Pride and prejudice

I have found my new favourite web comic, Hark a Vagrant. Very funny take on some history, some American but plenty in there for the rest of us! Here is my favourite so far (partially because i am obsessed with this book right now).

Crabby old lady

On the bus (which was pointless as it was late and i was trying to get home early) and tired. Two boys get on, about 12 and 13 years old. They start play fighting, it gets louder and louder and more and more violent till i turn round and in my best instructor voice yell "Guys, will you just sit down?!"

Silence on the bus. Boys go red. I feel bad. Boys try to move seats but they're aren't any. Finally i apologise and explain that "working 8 hours a day in hospital is tiring and i don't want to sit next to you too acting like dicks"

"what do you do?" they ask.

"i put make up on dead people"

They move and stand at the front.

True story!

Ear medicine

Some of you may or may not know that my ears are a bit fucked. Not as bad as Mr Hippy as he has to wear the 'aids (arf arf) but very prone to disease, popping, weeping, infection and occasionally, without warning, my ear drums blow up. Lovely. I have been very tired and head achy recently and managed to work out i have yet another ear infection which has been waking me up throughout the night feeling like someone is drilling into my ear with barbed wire and hypodermic needles.

Luckily i joined my local GP a few weeks ago (only took me 3 years of living in Bristol) and toddled off after work today after a surprise appointment cropped up. Dr confirmed what i had thought ("oh dear it all looks a bit angry in there" "yes, i can tell this because when you jam your machine in my ear i feel like vomiting").

I get my prescription, i am happy, i get outside, i realise i can't get my prescription till next Friday. Balls.

Christmas

Yes i know it's 3.5 months away but last year was a bit fail and so i am trying to organise this year early. I am booked in to visit my parents two weeks before the day so that means i can have birthday/xmas presents lavished on me. I am treating myself to a new tattoo (placement to be decided)on the same weekend which is rather exciting too.

The one day that is a bit of a bugger is xmas day it's self. Maz maybe a round but equally she may not. I would LOVE to go away to Europe somewhere to celebrate, somewhere like Bruge or Berlin but not sure i can afford it or find anyone to go with and so i think it will end up being me, myself and i with a bottle of wine and the TV. I am thinking about volunteering somewhere such as the soup kitchen or the local RSPCA centre for a few hours for that nice warm feeling inside.

Next year i will hopefully be driving in my own car so going home won't even be an issue but currently i hate public transport in the holidays, especially Christmas time, cramped, over priced and everyone is in a foul mood!

If anyone has any ideas let me know!

Oh dear

I seem to have managed to follow my own blog through the accidental click of a button. Bugger. What will this mean? Will the internet now turn in on its self imploding into a million pieces so we can go back to having normal, uneventful lives? No face book, no Myspace, no blogs, NO PORN!!!!

Hey i may have just saved our youth here.

Still 17 followers (not including me) is pretty rad. Thanks to each and everyone of you for subscribing to my irrational and often poorly written stream of conciousness.

She came, she saw, she made dip

So Maz's birthday was over the weekend but due to a cruel twist of fate everyone was going to the ginger fuzz balls for some sort of geek orgy thing and the BBQ was cancelled...but not if i could help it! I can't claim all the credit of course but after suggestions of pub were offered up i did the classic "oh i'l cook!". Why do i always say that?

The pub was really lovely, myself, Ben, Maz, Rich, Sam, George, Jess and baby Alex all spent a lazy Sunday afternoon drinking and playing with kids toys in the garden (pictures to follow).

After many a laugh we trooped all of ten feet back to Team Kellaways pad for Mexican madness. I made Fajitas (veggie and meaty), rice and beans, homemade salsa and guacamole, spicy potatoes, sour cream and for pudding fruit and meringue with cream. Phew. Next time someone else can cook. Everyone seemed to have a lot of fun and it was nice making sure Maz had a good birthday. Birthdays are hella important to me (no one seems to get this but its one of the many things that makes me special).

Work is going really well but i am getting a little flustered and stressed. I've forgotten what it's like to have to chase people and rely on others to ensure i can do my job. It sucks balls. I've also learnt to avoid certain members of staff (i literally run and hide from one woman as one wrong word and she can shit on me from a great height. I don't think i need that) which staff members are good at remembering what you've asked or told them. Also always make sure you have ordered everything you need from medical records before going there. Its a 20 minute journey just to get there if you get a lift. This is because people in lifts are retards. I hate them. The doors will be closing and someone will throw themselves in and then realise its going the wrong way then battle to get out again. You stand there like battery hens sweating like pigs complaining about the heat/crushing/lack of lifts... Idiots.
